Welcome and thank you for visiting the 'Swanwick School of Motoring' website.
My name is Paul and I am the sole owner of Swanwick School of Motoring. I am an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) registered with the 'Driving Standards Agency' (DSA) for four years. I have been a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) for over 20 years and I am a member of the Driving Instructors Association.
I am also a registered Pass Plus instructor who offers driving instruction for all ages and experience, from new drivers to the more experienced but nervous driver, in and around the Alfreton, Swanwick, Belper and Ripley areas for new and more experienced drivers.
I was a Police officer with the Derbyshire Constabulary where, for over 27 years I was a Road Traffic Officer which included patrolling the M1 motorway. I am a 'Class 1' advanced driver for both cars and motor cycles and I also hold a full LGV (Class 1) driving licence.

For over 11 years I was a Collision Investigator, this role required me attend and investigate why and how serious / fatal road traffic collisions occur. I use this knowledge within my teaching, especially of young drivers as I am only too aware of how vulnerable these drivers can be. My teaching includes safe, but competent vehicle handling in a variety of road and weather conditions.
I was a member of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Escort Team, and also escorted visiting royalty around the County.

I have recently taken and passed the new Theory and Hazard Perception test and I am therefore, able to offer first hand advice on this first step to obtaining your full driving licence.
